My premise here is that everyone is a leader and that we move in and out of leadership roles throughout our life.
So what is a creative leader?
Someone who:
- invites people to a round table for the contribution of ideas.
- provides an encouraging atmosphere for the exchange of ideas.
- promotes the development of each individual’s strengths.
- asks dynamic questions which lead people to solutions.
- encourages and praises people who find dynamic solutions to problems.
- continues to ask questions if the solutions are not viable.
- is open and honest about not knowing all the answers.
- accepts no for an answer.
- is confident enough in own abilities to accept and encourage another person’s creative brilliance.
- encourages people by word and by example to own and appreciate their own strengths and contributions, and to extend the same appreciation to others.
- develops trust relationships.
- perceives multiple levels of archetypal or metaphorical meaning.
Some leaders are very well known and in the public spotlight. Some work quietly behind the scenes and you’d never recognize them on the street.
So how do you know you’re in the presence of a creative leader?
